My husband and I were excited to live in a new city, and Dallas has been a great fit! When I was looking for a position after completing my training, Texas Retina was at the top of my list. I have worn glasses since I was 7 years old, so I have always been fascinated by eyes! In medical school, I knew I wanted to pursue a surgical subspecialty and quickly became passionate about ophthalmology and more specifically, retina. Why did you choose to specialize/sub-specialize in ophthalmology and retina? After volunteering with multiple physicians and medical researchers in college, I knew I wanted to pursue medicine. I was eager to find a career that interested me while also making a meaningful impact on the people around me. Growing up, my parents always valued education and encouraged me to work hard and reach my highest potential. Why did you become a physician? What inspired you? She is also passionate about research to discover new and better treatments to restore and maintain vision. Laura provides care for a full range of vitreoretinal conditions, including macular degeneration, retinal tears and detachment, diabetic eye disease, ocular trauma, retinopathy of prematurity and other pediatric retinal diseases, and cares for babies in the neonatal intensive care units (NICU) at both Baylor and Methodist Dallas hospitals.
